Located in Portland, Oregon, The
Photographers' Education Group (PEG) is a non-profit organization with the mission of providing education in fine art photography for photographers, collectors and educators. A major focus of PEG is to build an interest in young photographers and to support them with educational opportunities, equipment/supplies, contests and exhibitions of their photographic work. PEG accomplishes its goals by:
- Hosting workshops
- Sponsoring lectures featuring noted photographers and industry leaders
- Sponsoring and organizing photography contests for young photographers
- Sharing the work of mature photographers with young photographers
- Studying and discussing the work of photographers in the context of the history of photography
- Organizing gallery and art museum tours
- Providing educational photography outings
PEG is also heavily involved with other non-profit organizations to provide photographic services and support that helps these organizations achieve their worthwhile goals. Most recently these organizations have included a Native American group to document the history of the Grand Ronde tribe and the Shriner's Hospital to provide photography for their Grand Re-Opening.
